Endless Summer: How I Keep the Island Spirit Alive in the City

August always feels like the finale of summer—warm, golden, and fleeting. But for me, it’s also a reminder that the island spirit isn’t seasonal. Even when I’m back in New York for meetings or dashing through airports, I carry the same energy I feel in the Virgin Islands: slow mornings, salty hair, and silk fabrics against sun-kissed skin.

How do I keep summer alive when I’m between the city and the islands? It’s about choosing pieces, places, and practices that let me flow easily from one world to the next.

1. My Wardrobe Trick: Resortwear as Everyday Wear

In NYC, I style my bikinis under linen blazers, silk scarves tied as tops, and our kaftan as a subway-to-soirée dress. I love seeing people turn their heads, realizing resortwear can be just as chic on Madison Avenue as it is on Magens Bay.

2. My Self-Care: Tiny Escapes

Morning ritual: A coconut candle and a 5-minute stretch in my silk robe before the emails begin.

Afternoon reset: Walking to my favorite juice bar in slides and oversized sunnies.

Evening indulgence: A salt scrub shower that reminds me of swimming in the Caribbean.

It’s not about being on vacation—it’s about living like vacation never ends.

3. My City Meets Island Moments

Rooftop rosé in Manhattan still tastes like island sundowners if you wear your towel as a chic wrap.

A silk scarf in my hair at a Brooklyn flea market gives me the same confidence as walking through a St. Thomas boutique.

Packing my weekender for quick trips to Miami means I’m never more than a flight away from the ocean.

is a mindset, not a month. Whether I’m at a power lunch in New York or barefoot on a beach in St. Croix, I’ve built a wardrobe and a way of life that refuses to choose between work and wanderlust.

And I hope you do too.

With love,
